Ford Motor Company has recalled 272,817 vehicles in the United States due to concerns over battery failure, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced.
Certain Ford Bronco Sport models from 2021 to 2023 and Maverick models from 2022 to 2023 are reported to be prone to having their 12-volt battery experience degradation and suddenly fail, which can lead to a loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights or drive power, and increase the odds of being involved in a crash, the U.S. auto safety regulator said.
Owners can take their vehicle to a Ford dealership for an inspection and have the 12-volt battery replaced free of charge if necessary.
